Coast Guard rescues overdue kayakers at Little Tybee Island

65 HoustonJACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The U.S. Coast Guard rescued two kayakers Tuesday at Little Tybee Island.

A family member reported the kayakers, a 42 and 19-year-old father and son, overdue after not returning at sunset.

Coast Guard Sector Charleston Command Center watchstanders were notified at 12:05 a.m. Tuesday of kayakers who didn’t return after traveling to Little Tybee Island.

A Coast Guard Air Station Savannah MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew located and hoisted the kayakers at 1:35 a.m. Both kayakers were transported to Air Station Savannah and reported to be in good condition.

Coast Guard Station Tybee and Georgia Marine Patrol boats were also involved in the search.
