Coast Guard Rescues Missing Hikers

SEATTLE – The Coast Guard airlifted two missing hikers in the vicinity of Multnomah Falls, Ore., at approximately 8 a.m. today.

Multnomah County Sheriff’s Department requested Coast Guard assistance in locating two missing hikers in the vicinity of Multnomah Falls. The sheriff’s department was in contact with the hikers but was unable to locate them. The hikers had been missing for 30 hours and it was reported that one or both may have been injured.

Coast Guard Air Station Astoria launched an HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew to search for the hikers. The hikers were located in the vicinity of Multnomah Falls and were hoisted by the crew and transported to Bonneville Dam where a Multnomah County Rescue Unit was waiting.

The hikers were reported to be cold but unharmed.
