Coast Guard rescues man near Ft. Myers Beach

FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. – The Coast Guard rescued a man from the water just yards from Salty Sams Marina in Ft. Myers after his 10-foot dinghy sunk.

The Coast Guard received a call at about 9 a.m. from a woman who witnessed the man floating from her dock.

A Coast Guard 33-foot rescue boat crew from Station Ft. Myers Beach was immediately launched to assist in the rescue.

Gerard Praccuia, 37, was in the water for approximately 40 minutes before Coast Guard crewmembers safely retrieved him from the water and transferred him to Station Ft. Myers Beach where Emergency Medical Services were waiting.

Praccuia was reported to be in good condition.
