NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard rescued a person in the water approximately 25 miles west of Grand Isle, Louisiana, Wednesday.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report at 5 a.m. that a 42-foot trawling vessel with one person aboard was on fire west of Grand Isle.
Sector watchstanders directed the launch of a 24-foot Special Purpose Craft-Shallow Water boatcrew from Coast Guard Station Grand Isle to assist.
The boat crew arrived on scene at 6:47 a.m. and located the man in the water.
The boatcrew recovered the man and transported him to Leeville Boat Launch in stable condition.
