Freeport, TX – The Coast Guard rescued a man this afternoon when he became stranded on a range marker in Chocolate Bayou, near Freeport, Texas.
Coast Guard Station Freeport received a call from the man on his cell phone at 12:10 p.m., reporting that he was stranded on the range marker and needed help. Unable to get close enough due to the shallow water, Station Freeport requested assistance from Coast Guard Air Station Houston. Air Station Houston launched a rescue helicopter and crew at 1:05 p.m.
The rescue helicopter crew arrived on scene at 1:38 p.m., and hoisted the man off the marker. He was brought to a public boat ramp and released. The man did not require medical attention.
