Coast Guard Rescues Man from Lake Erie

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The U.S. Coast Guard rescued a 28-year-old man after his sail boat capsized approximately three miles off of Sturgeon Point at approximately 6 p.m. today.

Coast Guard Station Buffalo received notification from Evans Police Dept. at approximately 5:21 p.m., of a man in the water.

A local county helicopter was the first on scene and vectored a Station Buffalo 47-foot motor life boat to the location. Once on scene, the Station Buffalo crew pulled the man on board the small boat.

A Coast Guard Air Station Detroit HH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter crew was dispatched to assist in the search.

The victim did not receive any injuries and was taken to Sector Buffalo where he was treated and released.
