NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard rescued a man from a barge today, approximately 2 miles south of the Southwest buoy near the Southwest Pass in the Gulf of Mexico.
Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a call early this morning from a crewmember on the tug boat pushing the barge reporting that a crewmember was experiencing a possible heart attack and needed medical assistance.
Sector New Orleans launched a HH-65C rescue helicopter and crew from Air Station New Orleans and a smallboat from Station Venice to the scene. Station Venice took the man and is transporting him to Station Venice where he will be met by EMS.
