Coast Guard Rescues Man, Continues Search for his Brother

CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Coast Guard has rescued one of two missing brothers from their 16-foot vessel Saturday morning.

William Phallan, 31, was rescued by a Coast Guard Station Georgetown, S.C., boat crew 11 miles east of Winyah Bay, S.C. He was then hoisted by a Coast Guard Air Facility Charleston helicopter and taken to Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

“It was great that William stayed with the vessel. It made it easier to find him,”said Lt. Evie Lynn, the pilot of the search and rescue helicopter from Air Facility Charleston.

The Coast Guard is continuing its search for Daniel Phallan. The Coast Guard Cutter Tarpon, from Savannah, Ga., an aircraft from the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, and a Coast Guard Auxiliary aircraft are joining the search.

According to William Phallan, both men were wearing their life jackets when their boat flipped over.
