Coast Guard rescues injured man off fishing vessel

VENICE, La. — The Coast Guard rescued an injured man off a fishing vessel Tuesday, May 12, 2009, near Tiger Pass in the Gulf of Mexico.

Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a call at 5 p.m. from the captain of the Captain Andy, reporting that a crewmember had been injured and needed immediate medial attention.

Sector New Orleans launched a 33-foot response boat crew from Station Venice and an HH-65C rescue helicopter crew from Air Station New Orleans.

The 33-foot response boat crew arrived on scene, took the injured man aboard the smallboat and safely transported him to emergency medical services waiting at Station Venice.

The condition of the man is unknown.
