Coast Guard rescues injured fisherman near Westport, Wash.

Seattle – The Coast Guard rescued an injured crewman 160 nautical miles off shore from Westport, Wash., at approximately 8:00 a.m. Thursday.

The crew of the 113-foot fishing vessel Rondys contacted the Coast Guard at approximately 3:30 a.m. to request a medivac due to a head injury. An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Astoria, Ore., hoisted the injured crewmember from Rondys and is en route to Emanuel Hospital in Portland, Ore.

The condition of the crewman is not known.
