Coast Guard Rescues Five from Capsized Boat

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Coast Guard rescued five people from their capsized vessel near Murrells Inlet, S.C., Wednesday at approximately 2:30 a.m.

Daniel Isaac, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and four men were on a 21-foot Sea Hunt when it capsized. The five men contacted the Coast Guard via VHF channel 16 and requested assistance.

A Coast Guard helicopter from Air Facility Charleston, a small boat from Coast Guard Station Georgetown, S.C., the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, and the Garden City Fire Department immediately launched to assist the men.

The men were spotted by a Coast Guard helicopter, rescued and transferred to awaiting EMS on land. Three of the men were then taken to Waccamaw Community Hospital for medical care.
