EMERALD ISLE, N.C. — The Coast Guard rescued a father and daughter Monday one mile east of Bogue Inlet after their jet ski became disabled.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Station Emerald Isle received a report at 12:45 p.m. that a 16-year-old female was on a disabled jet ski while her 53-year-old father was in the water.
A 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew from Coast Guard Station Emerald Isle launched at 1:05 p.m. and arrived on scene at 1:22 p.m. The boat crew took the jet ski in tow and brought it along with the passengers to their dock in Emerald Isle.
“We were glad to find both individuals wearing lifejackets and wetsuits,” said Petty Officer 3rd Class Tyler McGuinness, coxswain during the rescue. “Because of this, they had increased chances of withstanding the cold elements and saving their energy until we could arrive.”
No injuries or pollution were reported.
