Coast Guard rescues family from the water near Alameda

SAN FRANCISCO – A small boat crew from Coast Guard Station San Francisco rescued a father and his two children from the water 500 yards south of Ballena Bay in Alameda, Calif.

The Coast Guard command center on Yerba Buena Island received notification from Alameda County Dispatch of a capsized 19-foot aluminum boat at 11:42 a.m., Sunday, near the Encinal Boat Ramp. The rescue crew from Station San Francisco responded to the call and arrived at 11:58 a.m., and rescued one adult male and two children from the water. The small boat crew transported the family to local EMS waiting on shore.

The condition of the individuals was reported to be stable.

The family was transported to Alameda Hospital for further evaluation.
