Coast Guard rescues bodyboarder south of Three Arch Rocks

ASTORIA, Ore. — The Coast Guard rescued a bodyboarder in distress just south of Three Arch Rocks in Oceanside, Ore., Tuesday.

Station Tillamook Bay, Ore., received a call at approximately 11:50 a.m. stating a bodyboarder was in trouble.

Air Station Astoria launched an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew, Station Tillamook Bay, Ore., launched a 47-foot motor life boat crew and a 25-foot response boat crew, and Air Station North Bend, Ore., sent an HH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew to the scene. Fire and Surf Rescue crews from Netarts, Ore. responded as well.

The 25-foot motor life boat crew arrived on scene and pulled the bodyboarder from the water.

The bodyboarder was transferred to the 47-foot motor life boat and brought to Station Tillamook Bay where he was examined by a Tillamook Ambulance crew and released to his parents.
