Coast Guard Rescues Ailing Cruise Ship Passenger

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Coast Guard rescue crews medevaced a 29-year-old man from a cruise ship 190-miles southwest of Cape Hatteras, N.C., this evening.

The Coast Guard Rescue and Coordination Center in Portsmouth, Va., was contacted by the crew of the Noordham, a 950-ft. Netherlands Antilles flagged vessel, requesting the medical evacuation of Lemon Molina, a native of the Philippines, who was suffering from severe abdominal pains.

Rescue crews from Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C., were dispatched to the scene.

Molina was flown to the Currituck County Hospital in Moorhead City, N.C., for treatment.
