Coast Guard rescues 6 people off grounded vessel

NEW ORLEANS- The Coast Guard hoisted 6 people from a vessel at the entrance of the Mississippi River, Friday night after their vessel ran aground near Venice, La.

Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans launched an HH-65C rescue helicopter aircrew after receiving a call at approximately 7 p.m.

Three children and three adults were rescued and flown to Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans, where they were treated for minor injuries and transported by family members home.

Rescued were Peter, Alison, Allie and Grant Galvan, along with Sue and Angela Corso all of Slidell, La.

Additionally their dog, Tigger, also of Slidell, La.,was rescued from aboard the grounded vessel.
