Coast Guard rescues 5 from capsized vessel near Clearwater Pass

CLEARWATER, Fla. – The Coast Guard rescued five people from the water at about 7:45 p.m. after their 18-foot vessel capsized north of Seminole boat ramp in Clearwater, Fla.

A Coast Guard 25-foot patrol boat crew from Station Sand Key was on a routine patrol when they located Ched Vogt, Dustin Eiler, Kyle Eiler, Zachary Reets and Brent Davis in the water. The vessel capsized approximately five minutes before the Coast Guard crew arrived.

The five people were safely transferred to Seminole boat ramp where they were reported to have no injuries.

The vessel was marked with a life-ring buoy. Cody Vogt, the owner of the vessel will commence salvage operations.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating.
