Coast Guard rescues 49-year-old from sailing vessel 6 miles east off Boot Harbor

KEY WEST, Fla. — The Coast Guard rescued a 49-year-old woman Monday approximately 6 miles east of Boot Key Harbor.

Coast Guard Sector Key West watchstanders received a call over VHF-FM radio channel 16 from the sailing vessel Wandering Spirit reporting the woman aboard had suffered a head injury and needed medical assistance.

A Coast Guard Station Marathon 33-foot Special Purpose Craft-Law Enforcement boatcrew arrived on scene and transferred her to local emergency medical services at Burrdines Marina for further care.
