Coast Guard rescues 4 from grounded vessel

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard rescued four men from their grounded vessel near the Chandeleur Island chain 27-miles south of Gulfport, Miss. today.

Coast Guard Sector Mobile received a distress call from a member aboard the vessel Sea Cruiser, a 35-foot pleasure craft, reporting that they had run aground and were stranded in shallow water on the west side of the Chandeleur Islands.

Air Station New Orleans launched an HH-65C rescue helicopter and crew to assist. The crew arrived on scene and safely hoisted all four men and transported them to the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport where they were met by a family member.

No injuries were reported.

Rescued were:

Donnie Jackson, Jr., and Donnie Jackson, Sr. both of Metairie, La.
Russell C. Webb of Fairhope, Ala.
Russell Webb of Biloxi, Miss.
