Coast Guard rescues 4 after boat capsizes

PORT CANAVERAL, Fla. — The Coast Guard rescued four people Saturday afternoon after their vessel capsized 10 miles east of Port Canaveral.

Four adults were aboard the 24-foot vessel when it capsized. The Coast Guard received the mayday call at approximately 10 a.m. Saturday morning at Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville, Fla.

Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville lost all communication shortly after receiving the mayday. Coast Guard Station Port Canaveral launched a 25-foot rescue boat and a 47-foot rescue boat.

The good Samaritan vessel, Top Billing, from Cape Canaveral arrived on scene just prior to the Coast Guard and rescued one person from the water. A Coast Guard 47-foot rescue boat and crew pulled the remaining three boaters from the water.

The Coast Guard returned all four individuals to Station Port Canaveral in good condition.
