NEW YORK — A Coast Guard crew rescued three people from a capsized vessel near Bartlett Reef, Connecticut, Sunday.
At approximately 4:30 p.m., Search and Rescue coordinators at Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound received a call from a crewmember aboard the motor vessel Mary Ellen reporting an 18-foot capsized catamaran with three people in the water near Bartlett Reef.
An Urgent Marine Information Broadcast was issued via VHF-FM radio channel 16 and a Coast Guard Station New London smallboat crew was launched.
The smallboat crew arrived on scene and located two adult males and one adult female wearing lifejackets and clinging to the capsized catamaran. All three people were rescued from the water with no medical concerns reported.
The capsized vessel was towed to Pleasure Beach in New London, Connecticut and the three people were safely transferred onto a nearby dock.
