Coast Guard rescues 3 near Barnegat Inlet, N.J.

BARNEGAT INLET, N.J. – The Coast Guard rescued three people Tuesday who slipped into the water while fishing on the jetties near Barnegat Inlet.

The Coast Guard received a report at 6:50 p.m. from a good Samaritan reporting three men were in the water.

A rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, N.J., arrived on scene and hoisted the men into their helicopter.

The rescue helicopter crew transported them to awaiting emergency medical personnel at a near by baseball field.

The men were transported to Southern Ocean County Hospital in Manahawkin, N.J., and treated for hypothermia.

All are alert and recovering.
