Coast Guard rescues 3 jet skiers following collision in Key West Harbor

45 Key WestMIAMI — The Coast Guard rescued three jet skiers Saturday following a collision between two jet skis in Key West Harbor.

Watch standers at Coast Guard Sector Key West received a report via VHF marine radio at approximately 11 a.m. from an individual aboard the Caribbean Fury, who reported two jet skis collided, and several people were injured.

Two boat crews from Coast Guard Station Key West were in the area when they heard the radio call and diverted to respond to the incident.  The first boat crew arrived approximately five minutes later, and the second boat crew arrived later after picking up medevac supplies from the Coast Guard station.

Three of the four jet skiers involved in the collision were brought aboard a Coast Guard boat and taken to Coast Guard Station Key West where they were met by awaiting EMS personnel at approximately 11:15 a.m.

All three jet skiers suffered minor injuries and are in good condition.
