Coast Guard Rescues 3 from Gulf of Mexico

The Coast Guard rescued three people from the Gulf of Mexico Sunday evening five miles offshore South Padre Island, TX after their 16 foot sail boat capsized.

The crew of a Coast Guard HU-25 rescue jet from Air Station Corpus Christi, TX found the overturned catamaran located in the position reported by Kayla, an employee of Airlog, who initially spotted the boat in distress. The crews of the responding Coast Guard 33 foot and 47 foot rescue boats from Station South Padre Island saved the three men from the water as they clung to their catamaran.

Two of the men were wearing life jackets. No injuries were reported.
