NEW ORLEANS —The Coast Guard rescued three people from a capsized vessel, Sunday, in Lake Cataouatche near La Fitte.
Rescued were Michael Ogden, 51, Jim Reeves, 63 and Terisa Davidson, 48.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a call from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office after 7 p.m. reporting that three people were in the water after the boat they were in capsized and partially sank. One of the males suffered a laceration to his leg. There were no reported injuries for the other two.
A Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65C Dolphin helicopter and crew arrived on scene at 7:41 p.m. and hoisted all three and transported them to West Jefferson Medical Center in Marrero.
“We were able to find them quickly, because they all were wearing life jackets and stayed with the vessel,” said Lt. j.g. Eric Turner, Air Station New Orleans. “Without the life jackets, this case could easily have resulted in something much more serious than a leg injury.”
