ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The Coast Guard rescued 2 people after their 27-foot sail boat ran aground near Bean Point, Florida, Thursday night.
At approximately 8:30 p.m. watchstanders from Coast Guard Station Cortez, Florida, recieved a report of two people in distress after their sailboat ran aground.
A 29-foot Response Boat-Small II boatcrew from the station was launched, and an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater, Florida, was diverted to the scene. Once on scene, the helicopter crew hoisted the people, and transported them to Tampa (Florida) General Hospitol for further medical assistance.
