Coast Guard rescues 2 people after their boat became disabled

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard rescued two people from a disabled boat near Morgan City, La., early today.

Air Station New Orleans received a call from Coast Guard Sector New Orleans at 11:45 p.m., reporting a boat with two men aboard had lost a propeller.

The boat was tied off near an oil rig south of Morgan City.

Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans launched an HH-65C Dolphin helicopter crew to to the scene. The helicopter crew located and hoisted both people inside the helicopter and transported them to Harry P. Williams Memorial airport.

Rescued were John Dowdell or Lexington, Ky., and Daniel Trahau of Morgan City, La.
