HOUSTON – The Coast Guard rescued two men after their boat sank in the Intracoastal Waterway near the San Bernard River, Texas, this afternoon.
A watchstander at Coast Guard Sector Houston/Galveston received a call from a passing tug that reported spotting a boat with only six inches above the water and two men on board, neither one wearing a life jacket. The tug was unable to rescue the two men due to the shallow water.
Coast Guard Station Freeport, Texas, diverted a rescue boat that was on patrol in the area. The rescue boat picked up the two men and brought them to shore, where their family was waiting.
No injuries were reported.
