MOBILE, Ala. – The Coast Guard rescued two people from a lift boat in foul weather 30 miles offshore Mobile in the Gulf of Mexico, Tuesday.

Watchstanders from Coast Guard Sector Mobile received a phone call from Offshore Marine Contractors that the lift boat Lucas Bourg was concerned about the stability of their vessel due to the predicted 18-foot sea state in the area.

The crew of the Lucas Bourg abandoned ship using the crane and man basket on board. The offshore supply vessel ThunderAmerica evacuated 11 of 13 crewmembers from the Lucas Bourg and transported them to Pascagoula, Miss.
