HOUSTON — The Coast Guard rescued two men from their vessel near Galveston, Texas, Saturday night.
At 8:45 p.m., Coast Guard Sector Houston/Galveston watchstanders received a request from Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders after a 911 call was received from a boater reporting that his 22-foot pleasure craft had become disabled and stranded on rocks near Bird Island in Galveston Bay.
Coast Guard Station Galveston response boat crewmembers attempted to assist but were unable due to shallow water depths around the pleasure craft. A Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew hoisted and transported the two boaters to Scholes International Airport in Galveston.
There were no reports of injuries.
