SAN FRANCISCO — The Coast Guard rescued two kayakers from the water Sunday near Rodeo Beach.
A motorist parked at Point Bonita contacted Coast Guard Sector San Francisco Command Center watchstanders at approximately 3:15 p.m., reporting that two kayakers were caught in a current and were being pulled out to sea.
Watchstanders dispatched a crew aboard a 47-foot Motor Lifeboat from Coast Guard Station Golden Gate, who arrived on scene at approximately 4:00 p.m., and found the kayakers in the water trying to swim their kayak back to shore.
The rescue crew retrieved the two people and their kayak from the water and took them to Station Golden Gate with no reported injuries.
“The Coast Guard urges anyone that sees mariners in danger to contact the Coast Guard or 911 immediately,” said Lt. Cmdr. Walter Daniel, a Sector San Francisco Command Center search and rescue mission coordinator. “In this case, the motorist’s quick action helped us retrieve the two kayakers out of the water.”
