Coast Guard Rescues 2 in Intracoastal Waterway

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas – The Coast Guard rescued two people after they fell overboard 200 yards north of the Isabella causeway in the Intracoastal Waterway Monday morning.

A small boat crew from Coast Guard Aids to Navigation Team South Padre Island, Texas, was traveling along the Intracoastal Waterway when a crewmember spotted a Carolina skiff hit a wake and throw it’s two passengers overboard at approximately 9:47 a.m. The crew pulled the two people out of the water and took the boat into tow. One of the men suffered a few minor cuts above his left eye.

The crew transferred the two men and skiff to a Coast Guard Station South Padre Island rescue boat. The rescue boat transported the two men back to Station South Padre Island, where emergency medical personnel were waiting to bring the injured man to Valley Regional Hospital in South Padre Island.
