Coast Guard rescues 2 boaters near Port Mahon, Del.

PHILADELPHIA – The Coast Guard rescued two people today who were aboard a disabled 27-foot boat near Port Mahon, Del.

The Coast Guard received a report at 6:09 p.m. that two people were overdue from a boat trip from Cape May, N.J., to Lewes, Del.

A rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, N.J., and a rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Fortescue, N.J., began searching for the two men.

The rescue helicopter crew located the two men aboard their boat at 12:30 a.m. and lowered the rescue swimmer who determined the two men to be in good condition. The boat they were on ran out of fuel.

Coast Guard Station Fortescue arrived on scene and towed the boat and its crew to a private marina in Fortescue Inlet.
