Coast Guard rescues 1 boy continues search for missing teen

MIAMI – The Coast Guard rescued a 12-year-old boy Sunday evening offshore from John U. Lloyd Beach State Park and continues to search with the Broward County Sherrif’s Office for a missing 14-year-old boy.

The Coast Guard received a phone call from the Hollywood Police Department requesting assistance locating two boys who went missing 200 yards offshore from John U. Lloyd Beach State Park near the Port Everglades jetty.

Assisting in the search is:

* Two rescue boat crews from Coast Guard Station Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
* A HH-65C Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Miami.
* Broward County Sheriff’s Office boat crew.
* Broward County Sheriff’s Office helicopter crew.

The 12-year-old boy was taken by a Coast Guard Station Fort Lauderdale boat crew to John U. Lloyd Beach State Park where he was transferred to Hollywood Fire Rescue.
