Coast Guard rescue crews medically evacuate woman off cruise ship Carnival Glory

Northeast Atlantic Coast Guard NewsBOSTON — Coast Guard rescue crews medically evacuated a 41-year-old woman off the cruise ship Carnival Glory after she was reported to be suffering stroke-like symptoms approximately 55 miles southeast of Nantucket, Mass., August 5, 2012.

Watchstaders at Coast Guard Sector Boston received notification at approximately 3:35 p.m., and Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod immediately launched an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter. The woman was safely hoisted and transported to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, R.I.

“Our crews launched swiftly,” said John Tomaszewski, a search and rescue coordinator at Sector Boston. “They were able to hoist her and get her the care she needed.

Her condition is unknown.
