Coast Guard rescinds port conditions in the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico

7th Coast Guard District NewsSAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Coast Guard Sector San Juan Captain of the Port, Capt. Drew Pearson, rescinded port restrictions Sunday afternoon associated with Tropical Storm Maria and established Port Condition Four for all the ports in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Under Port Condition Four, port operations return to normal as inbound and outbound vessel traffic and cargo operations are authorized.

“The response by the maritime industry and the commercial vessel community in the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico in anticipation to Tropical Storm María was superb,” said Cmdr. Dave Berliner, Sector San Juan chief of prevention. “They quickly adapted to port conditions changes and secured the ports well in advance to mitigate any potential damages from the incoming storm.”
