Coast Guard repatriates 37 migrants

7th Coast Guard District NewsMIAMI — The Coast Guard interdicted 39 migrants at sea during five separate incidents since July 1, 37 of whom were repatriated over the past nine days.

One Cuban migrant was transferred to Customs and Border Protection officials in Key West, Fla., Wednesday.

One Cuban migrant was transferred to Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, for further processing Wednesday.

Thirty-two Cuban migrants were repatriated to Bahia de Cabañas, Cuba, and five Haitian migrants were repatriated to Cap Haitien, Haiti.

Once aboard a Coast Guard cutter, all migrants are provided with food, water, shelter and basic medical attention.
