Coast Guard repatriates 23 Cuban Migrants

Coast Guard District 7 NewsMIAMI — The Coast Guard repatriated 23 Cuban migrants to Bahia de Cabañas, Cuba, Wednesday.

The migrants were interdicted at sea during two separate cases since Nov. 29.

“U.S. Coast Guard policy is to deter and respond to dangerous, and illegal maritime migration by intercepting vessels pursuing perilous and illegal voyages,” said, Lt. Peter Lang, command center duty officer 7th Coast Guard District. “We continue to maintain a robust presence of cutters and aircraft throughout the Caribbean to prevent illegal migration and migrant smuggling activities.”

All migrants interdicted were provided with food, water, shelter and basic medical attention.
