Coast Guard reopens rivers to recreational vessel traffic

ST. LOUIS (D8 Public Affairs) – Due to improved conditions the Coast Guard has lifted the previous high water restrictions effecting recreational vessel traffic on the Upper Mississippi River.

The restrictions being removed are those which prohibited recreational vessel traffic on the Upper Mississipi River between mile markers 168.7 (Jefferson Barracks Bridge) and 301.2 (Lock & Dam 22), the Illinois River between mile markers 0 and 24, and the Kaskaskia River between mile marker 0 and 21.

For the most up-to-date information regarding river closures on these rivers, vessel operators should monitor the Coast Guard’s daily marine information broadcasts at 3:00 AM, 8:00 AM, 3:00 PM, and 9:00 PM.
