Coast Guard recovers body of missing child near Galveston

HOUSTON – The Coast Guard recovered the body of a 3-year-old boy near San Luis Pass, Texas, Sunday.

Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston received a report from the Brazoria County Sheriffs Department of a missing 3-year-old boy, who was possibly in the water.

An MH-65C Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Houston and a 25-foot Response Boat-Small crew from Station Freeport began searching just after 4 p.m.

The boy was located at approximately 4:40 p.m. by the Dolphin helicopter crew, and was pulled from the water by the small-boat crew.

The small-boat crew began CPR on the boy and returned to Station Freeport. The small-boat crew was met at the pier by Brazoria County EMS personnel, who pronounced the child deceased.
