Coast Guard recovers body of 8-year-old from Mill Creek, Va.

RICHMOND, Va.— The Coast Guard has ended its search Monday for an 8-year-old boy who was seen going under the water Sunday in Mill Creek near West Point.

Personnel from New Kent Fire and Rescue notified watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Hampton Roads at approximately 7:30 p.m. of a boy going under the water in Mills Creek. Coast Guard Station Milford Haven launched a 25-foot Response Boat-Small crew.

Two Station Milford Haven crew members aboard an 18-foot good Samaritan vessel found the body of the missing boy early this morning. He was transported back to shore where EMS personnel declared him deceased.

“Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased during this time of loss,” said Petty Officer 2nd Class Patrick Ford of Station Milford Haven.
