SAN FRANCISCO — The Coast Guard recovered the body of an overdue boater 20 miles southwest of Santa Cruz, Calif., Tuesday.
The 70-year old male departed aboard the 40-foot fishing vessel Sunrise from Half Moon Bay, July 25.
Watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector San Francisco command center received a call at approximately 1 p.m., Tuesday, reporting him overdue.
An MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter crew from Air Station San Francisco and a 47-foot Motor Life Boat crew from Station Monterey responded.
A rescue swimmer was lowered from the helicopter to the fishing vessel and located the deceased man in the cabin.
The crew aboard the MLB returned the vessel to Santa Cruz where the man and the vessel were turned over to local authorities.
