Coast Guard postpones multi-agency maritime search and rescue exercise

MOBILE, Ala. – The Coast Guard along with search and rescue units from Mobile County, Baldwin County and the state of Alabama have postponed the multi-agency maritime search and rescue exercise scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 2009 in Mobile Bay, due to forecasted thunderstorms.

The exercise has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 4, 2009, from 8 a.m. until noon at the same location.

The exercise will consist of sea and air resources from all agencies. There will also be simulated vessels in distress in the bay.

This exercise is designed to raise awareness of search and rescue and prepare the search and rescue community for the upcoming boating season.

The Coast Guard, Mobile County, Baldwin County, and the state of Alabama are committed to improving the safety of boaters and highlighting the importance of lifesaving equipment.
