Coast Guard Port Security Unit 313 to hold change of command

SEATTLE — The crew of U.S. Coast Guard Port Security Unit 313 is scheduled to hold a change-of-command ceremony at Naval Station Everett, Saturday.

During the ceremony, Capt. Daniel W. Clark will transfer command to Cmdr. James R. Hotchkiss.

Capt. Thomas E. Crabbs, chief of Coast Guard Pacific Area operations, will preside over the ceremony.

PSU 313 is comprised of Coast Guard active duty and reserve members from the states of Washington, Oregon, Montana and California. Crewmembers provide security and protect military and critical infrastructure from acts of terrorism, sabotage, espionage, subversion and direct attack.

The change-of-command ceremony is a time-honored tradition and deeply rooted in Coast Guard and naval history. The event signifies a total transfer of responsibility, authority and accountability for the command. All members of the unit attend the ceremony to witness the transfer of command.
