NEW YORK, NY – Coast Guard Petty Officer 3rd Class Shaun Lin, 23, of Queens, N.Y., was interred at Long Island National Cemetery on Thursday, October 21, 2010, following funeral services at St Adalbert’s Church in Queens, N.Y.
Lin, who died during a training exercise October 13 in Virginia, served in the Coast Guard for three years. He joined the Coast Guard in July, 2007, and after boot camp was assigned to Coast Guard Station Boston, as a fireman. In 2009, he was transferred to the Coast Guard Cutter Maui, serving in the North Arabian Gulf. Lin reported aboard Maritime Safety and Security Team New York in summer 2010.
Petty Officer Lin stood the watch on the front lines, helping to protect our nation from criminal and terrorist threats. Petty Officer Lin’s individual efforts are probably unknown to most people, but his selfless service and quiet professionalism, like that of so many others that serve, ensured that we were always ready.
