Coast Guard, partner agencies searching for 2 in Suwannee River near Yankeetown, Florida

YANKEETOWN, Fla. — The Coast Guard, along with partner agencies are searching for two men aboard a 16-foot 1978 recreational boat in the Suwannee River near Yankeetown, Florida Thursday.

Missing is Tom Brenneman, 72, and Paul Brenneman, 46, of Gainesville, Florida.

Alachua County Sheriff’s office members contacted watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg, Florida, at 2:50 a.m., reporting they found a truck and trailer at the Suwannee boat ramp. The wife of Brenneman contacted the police after she became concerned when her husband and son did not return from an Aug. 27 fishing trip.

Alachua Sheriff Office had conducted cellular phone investigation and obtained last ping with GPS on one cellular phone 10 miles west of Suwannee River Boat Ramp at Aug. 27 at 9:30 a.m.

An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater, Florida, and 25-foot Response Boat — Small crew from Coast Guard Station Yankeetown, Alachua County Sheriff’s office crews, Dixie County Sheriff’s office crews and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission crews are searching for the men.
