Coast Guard, partner agencies searching after distress call heard near Sarasota New Pass, Fla.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The Coast Guard along with partner agencies are searching for what is believed to be a male after they recieved a distress call near Sarasota New Pass, Sunday.

Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg watchstanders received the distress call at 11:09 a.m.

A 25-foot Response Boat – Small boatcrew from Coast Guard Station Cortez, an MH-60 Helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater, crews from Naples Police Department, Venice Police Department and Florida Fish and Wildlfe Conservation Commission are assisting in the search.
