BOSTON — Crews from Coast Guard Station Merrimack River and Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod along with local agencies saved one person and are searching for another Tuesday evening off of Salisbury Beach.

At approximately 5:40 p.m. the Salisbury Police Department notified Coast Guard watchstanders of two people in the water near a capsized boat.

A Coast Guard 47-foot Motor Lifeboat crew and an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew launched to assist.

One person was able to make it to the nearby jetty where he was recovered by the Salisbury Police Department. The man had no reported injuries.

The Coast Guard, along with the Salisbury harbor master and police department, the Merrimack police department, the Newburyport police department, and local community continue to search for the second person.
