Coast Guard Participates In Community Clean Up Effort

BALTIMORE- The Coast Guard Enlisted Association (CGEA) will be participating in Project Clean Stream at Sandy Point State Park in Annapolis, Md., Saturday.

Project Clean Stream is an annual event held in April and is sponsored by the Alliance of the Chesapeake Bay, a non-profit organization who helps protect and restore the bay and its rivers. Project Clean Stream’s origin began over 30 years ago in Jones Falls, Md., and has grown from a local trash pick-up initiative to a program that encompasses over 100 locations in eastern and central Maryland.

The CGEA is an organization formed under the Chief Petty Officers Association and consisting of enlisted active duty and reserve men and women that assist their fellow shipmates, command and community by participating in events, fundraisers and command functions.

Other groups volunteering their time include Midshipmen from the Navel Academy, the student activities group from Anne Arundel Community College and other local citizens and businesses.
