SAN DIEGO — Coast Guard crews and multiple other agencies are currently searching Mission Bay for a 50-year-old man after the sailboat he was on was overturned by a rouge wave early Monday morning.
Coast Guard Sector San Diego received a call from Mission Bay lifeguards at 12:46 a.m., reporting a 20-foot sailboat had capsized near the north jetty at the entrance to Mission Bay and one of the two people aboard had not been accounted for.
The other person aboard made it back to shore and was provided care by local emergency services personnel before being transported to the hospital. His current condition is unknown.
Searching are: An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew and 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew from Coast Guard Sector San Diego, paramedics, lifeguards, and San Diego Fire and Police departments.
The vessel has been beached at the south part of Mission Beach.
